Kentico to EETech Commerce, start to finish.
We know this platform well, including from the inside: a substantial amount of our work has been building search, distributor integration and BOM tooling on top of client sites running on it.
What changes
The content management story stays strong. What changes is where product data lives and what filtering it can support:
- On Kentico: Products stored as custom page types held together by habit, without proper spec fields; spec filtering built as custom .NET code that you maintain; a catalog your team has to build and look after itself.
- On EETech Commerce: Spec fields with units, ranges and data quality rules in a built-in PIM; search by spec value that converts units when products are loaded; the catalog maintained by us as part of the product.
The honest recommendation: Sometimes the answer is the layer, not the migration
If you have invested heavily in Kentico recently, your marketing team depends on its personalisation, and the gap is specifically that buyers cannot find parts, then the right project is adding our search, distributor integration and BOM tools to your existing site rather than a replatform.
The case for a full migration is different: an ageing instance nobody wants to upgrade, a catalog layer that has become a standing engineering cost, and a marketing team that files tickets for content changes. If two of those three are true, the arithmetic usually favours moving.
Typical migration timeline (12 weeks)
- Weeks 1–2: Discovery and catalog audit. Content types, custom modules, and the real state of product data.
- Weeks 2–4: Product data setup and unit standards. Custom page types mapped to spec fields for each product family, with unit rules defined.
- Weeks 3–8: Integrations. Documented ERP and CRM connections scoped first.
- Weeks 6–10: URLs and redirects. Kentico URL patterns mapped and redirected. Indexed product pages protected before anything retires.
- Weeks 8–12: Running old and new side by side, then switching over. Live data against the new catalog before the switch.
